Museum
What scares people is the element of surprise. I would like
to incorporate this into my trailer with jumps and scares in order to frighten
the audience. It works well to keep them on edge, thus ensuring a good response
for a horror trailer.
My personal fear is mannequins. The uncanny likeness to
human beings are unsettling along with their inability to move just makes them
creepy. My subconscious is always on edge when I look at them as I am
half-expecting them to move, which we know is impossible, but the fear is still
there. Therefore I would base my horror trailer on mannequins or the
impersonation of humanity in some way.
Characters :
- Teenagers – at least 2 girls and 2 boys – (Final Girl among them)
- Teacher
- Museum Guide
- Evil Mannequins (villains/evil force)
- Police (who don’t believe the heroes)
Setting:
- Museum – War? Natural world?
- Warehouse/Old storage building
Plot:
- A class go to a museum for a college trip, to aid their history course and get an insight into the World War. However, as soon as they arrive, something doesn’t seem quite right. The mannequins/status never seem to stay in the same place. The mannequins are actually evil and start taking the students one by one. What causes their supernatural behaviour is unknown to the audience. Students are kidnapped, and possibly murdered. The police don’t believe the students who are concerned about their friends, until the teacher goes missing. A fieldtrip from hell.
Types of shot to use:
- Turn museum lights off one by one until dark, then turn one back on to show a mannequin standing in front of the camera.
- Extreme close-ups of the teenagers to show fear.
- Pan around the museum and when pan back, the mannequins have moved/changed.
